ひなたぼっこがここちよい
ヒトがしらない「あのバショ」で
ネコのしゅうかいがありました
クロネコさんがいいました
「キョウのギダイはなんですか？」
シロネコさん にくきゅうをあげいいました
「みなさん オタンジョウビってしってますか？」
「オタンジョビってなんですか？」
コネコちゃんが ききました
ミケネコさんがこたえます
「オタンジョウビっていうのは
じぶんがうまれたひのことで
いちねんが くるん！とまわったうれしいひのこと！」
オタンジョウビってなんだろな？
いつものひでは ないみたい
いちねんが ほら くるりん！と
まわれば だれでも うれしいね!
シロネコさんは つづけます
「じつは みなさんに ゴハンをくれる あのヒトの
オダンジョウビがちかいらしいので
そのひは わたしたちが
ヒゴロノオレイをする というのはどうでしょう？」
「でも ヒゴロノオレイってなにすればいいのかな？」
「おくりものをするっていうのはどうでしょう？」
「オクリモノってなんだろう？」
「タベモノのことではないのかな？」
オタンジョウビってむずかしい！
いつものひでは ないからね
いちねんが ただ くるりん！と
まわっただけでも だいじなひ!
「ボク あのヒトがすきなものしってるよ！」
コネコちゃんがいいました
「いつも きこえるよ すてきなオンガクが！」
トラネコさんがいいました
「それなら わたしたちのうたをおくりましょう！」

「さあ れんしゅうだ！」

English Translation / 英語訳
A Gift from Cats
At a wonderful sunbathing place,
of which humans do not know,
there was a gathering of cats.
A black cat said,
“What shall we talk about today?”
A white cat raised a paw.
“Does anyone know about a birthday?”
“What’s a purrthday?”
asked a kitten.
A calico cat answered,
“A birthday is
the day that someone was born,
and the happy day that the year somersaults!”
What’s a birthday?
It seems that it is not an ordinary day.
Everyone is happy
when the year somersaults!
The white cat continued,
“To tell the truth, it seems
that the birthday of the human who gives us food is near.
So, I thought that it would be nice if we did something nice
for the human as a token of our gratitude on that day.”
“But what should we do?”
“Why don’t we give a gift to the human?”
“Mmm... what is a gift?”
“Is it a name for food?”
Birthday is hard!
Of course, it is! It is not an ordinary day.
It is an important day,
although the year just somersaults.
“I know what the human likes!”
The kitten cried.
“I always hear wonderful music coming from the house!”
A tabby cat asked,
“In that case, why don’t we give the human a song?”
“Mmm-aye!”
“Let’s practice!”

Program Note (JPN Only) / プログラムノート
「ネコのおくりもの」によせて（初演時のノートより）
2012年6月3日。委嘱作品「ウミガメの唄」の初演が行われた大分市民合唱団ウイステリア・コール第60回定期演奏会の打ち上げの席で、ウイステリアの猿渡さんから、合唱団の指揮者・飯倉貞子先生の傘寿記念のコンサートのための新曲委嘱のお話がありました。その場で、承知した旨をお伝えし、その後、猿渡さんから改めて、以下のような楽曲の詳しい仕様などの以下のようなお知らせを受け取りました。①飯倉先生をイメージした合唱曲。②曲の長さは４～５分程度。③混声・女声・児童合唱単独でも、また同時でも演奏可能。④おかあさんコーラス単独でも演奏可能な程度の難度。⑤小さい子供も何らかの形で参加が可能。
さて、どういうイメージの曲にしようかな？と頭の片隅で考えながら過ごしていた2012年秋、飯倉先生について重大な情報がもたらされました。『飯倉先生は動物好き！（かなり）』『飯倉先生は動物の写真や記事の切抜きをしている！（笑）』『飯倉先生はネコ好きだ！（とっても）』
これらの新情報に基づいて、本楽曲「ネコのおくりもの」が誕生することになりました。
本楽曲「ネコのおくりもの」は、児童（二部）・女声（三部）・混声合唱（三部と四部）のためのピアノ付き合唱曲で、各編成が単独でも合同でも演奏できるよう構成されたバースデー・ソングです。「ネコたち」が「あのヒト」のことを想いながらストーリーが展開する楽曲になっています。「誕生日を祝ってくれるネコ（ヒト）」がいるということ、そして「誕生日を祝ってあげたいヒト」がいるということ。この２つの幸せにあふれた「オンガク」になったら嬉しいです。
